Voting for presidential election started Wednesday in Mongolia.
For the top state position competing are Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, leader of the ruling Mongolian People’s Party; Erdene Sodnomzundui, former chairman of the Democratic Party, and Enkhbat Dangaasuren from central left Right Person Electorate Coalition.
Voting started at 07.00 a.m. local time. A total of 2,15 million voters are expected to cast their votes. The population of Mongolia is 3,3 million.
Polling stations are open until 10.00 p.m local time.
A candidate who will gain 50+1 per cent of the total votes will be the next President of the country. If none of candidates reaches the threshold, the second round of election will be held with two of the candidates who would gain the most number of votes.
